Where did \u2018soft, pink and fluffy\u2019 ever come from as a term in relation to people\u2019s development?  <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You know \u2013 the kind of development that helps people have conversations they\u2019ve been avoiding for months \u2013 which keep them awake at night?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or giving people the confidence to step in when a more senior colleague is about to be just a little bit casual when it comes to the care of a vulnerable service user? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or helping people work out how on earth they can do this thing called \u2018leadership\u2019 with a team of 9 people they\u2019ve just inherited?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I definitely don\u2019t see development as pink or fluffy \u2013 it\u2019s way too important for the people working on it themselves \u2013 and the organisations paying for it. Development has a \u2018hard edge\u2019 \u2013 and something which has a place to help organisations deliver strategic goals, whilst also making people\u2019s experience at work more rewarding and challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So down with soft, pink and fluffy! Leave it in the bathroom\u2026..and let\u2019s start a different story, about development having a harder edge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
